On July 21, 2026, Cfx.re—the Rockstar Games-owned development team behind the massive multiplayer modding platform FiveM—officially launched FiveM for GTA V Enhanced in Early Access. This release marks the biggest visual and architectural upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V custom roleplay servers since the platform originally debuted.
Next-Gen Engine Features and Unprecedented Server Performance
Until this release, custom roleplay (RP) communities were restricted to the legacy PC build of Grand Theft Auto V. With the new release, server creators can leverage the Expanded & Enhanced Edition engine, introducing modern visual rendering, ray tracing, and upgraded lighting effects to custom multiplayer environments. The architectural overhaul goes beyond graphics, drastically increasing server capacity and network responsiveness.
The rebuilt OneSync engine can now host dedicated multiplayer servers supporting up to 2,048 concurrent players. Furthermore, network synchronization limits have been quadrupled, allowing operators to run servers at tick rates up to 120 updates per second (120Hz), a major jump from the 30Hz limit found on FiveM Legacy.

Key Enhancements in FiveM for GTA V Enhanced
The Early Access launch introduces several key technical features designed to modernize the platform and streamline installation:
- Ray Tracing and Modern Visuals: Full support for Expanded & Enhanced Edition graphics, upgraded lighting, and modern rendering techniques.
- Massive Player Limits: Up to 2,048 concurrent players per dedicated server powered by the rebuilt OneSync engine.
- 120Hz Network Tick Rates: Quadrupled network synchronization performance for ultra-responsive gameplay.
- Standalone Installation: Installs alongside FiveM Legacy without altering or overwriting existing legacy setups and server files.
- Redesigned Installer & Cache Management: Custom installation drives/paths and automated resource cache cleanup to purge outdated files.
What This Means for the GTA Roleplay Community
When Take-Two Interactive acquired Cfx.re in August 2023, the community anticipated a closer alignment between official Rockstar tech and community roleplay. Prior to July 2026, players were locked out of GTA V's latest visual enhancements on PC. By bringing Expanded & Enhanced features directly into FiveM, creators can deliver significantly more immersive worlds with realistic ray-traced reflections and much smoother player-to-player physics.
Importantly, existing setups remain safe. The Early Access client functions as a completely standalone application alongside FiveM Legacy, leaving established legacy server files entirely untouched. While the release is a major milestone, initial community reports suggest that Asset Escrow script encryption support is currently disabled in this early build, which may temporarily affect certain paid custom server scripts until future beta updates arrive.
