Fans have identified 272 vehicles in Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing materials ahead of the game's November launch. The launch window was recently confirmed by Cloud Imperium Games CEO Chris Roberts, who noted the game is not expected to release on PC this November. According to Kotaku, community members at GTA Base—a fan-created website dedicated to cataloging every element of the franchise—have documented the roster by combing through every screenshot and trailer released by Rockstar Games since 2023.

The vehicle count expanded following Rockstar's release last week of a nearly 30-minute gameplay trailer, titled as an Extended Look. By cross-referencing footage from that preview, the two previous official trailers, official screenshots, and leaks attributed to Cyberleek, the fan site cataloged more vehicles than have appeared in any previous single-player Grand Theft Auto game prior to release.

Breakdown of New and Returning Roster

According to data published by GTA Base as of September 1, the 272 identified vehicles encompass cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters, boats, planes, and other craft. Among the documented total, over 90 vehicles are brand new to the Grand Theft Auto series. The remaining vehicles are returning models, mostly brought back from Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5.

Because Rockstar Games has not yet released the final game, the documented list reflects only the vehicles visible in promotional content and leaked materials. Additional unrevealed vehicles are expected to be present when the title launches in November.

Industry Impact

The gravity of the November release has led other developers to adjust their schedules. Cloud Imperium Games announced that Squadron 42, the story-based spinoff of Star Citizen, has been delayed to the second quarter of 2027. Roberts explained the decision was made to avoid launching into the "attention buzz saw" of Grand Theft Auto 6, which he expects will dominate media and content creator coverage regardless of the lack of a day-one PC version.

Historical Context and GTA Online Comparison

The pre-launch vehicle tally puts Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of past standalone single-player releases in the series, such as Grand Theft Auto 3, which featured a substantially smaller lineup of driveable cars and boats. However, the upcoming game's visible count remains behind GTA Online.

Driven by continuous free content updates over more than a decade, GTA Online expanded its vehicle roster to over 800 by 2026. Kotaku pointed out that not all 800 vehicles in GTA Online actively spawn on the map or remain available to players in-game, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is not expected to match that total at launch.

Kotaku also highlighted additional gameplay details visible in recent promotional footage, noting that stealing cars in Grand Theft Auto 6 will be more challenging and rewarding than in previous games. The extended preview also featured an in-game commercial filmed using Red Dead Redemption II.
